I don't think my dress is going to be all the steampunk, either. It will be down to the accessories to make it work as steampunk as well as Victorian.

Yeah, the bodice as a vest, without those huge sleeves, will look a lot less formal, and you're right about the hunting outfit's top. It doesn't provide for the proper layering.
