So, there was a new episode of Lost last night. My enjoyment of it had to be put temporarily as I got home from an evening out with the comic guys only to find that the roof was leaking, in my bedroom, directly above my bookshelf. Luckily, I had moved all the books that were sitting on top of the shelf after last week's mildew/mold incident, so no more books were damaged, but still, what an annoying mess.

Anyway, on to the good, the bad and the ugly Lost thoughts.

Okay, the first thing I have to say is, they skipped four days. Four days! All the searching for Claire is over and done with, she hasn't been found, and apparently everyone is pretty much okay with that. Life goes on and all that jazz. Charlie is still a mess, of course, but the writing for his storyline seemed a bit half-hearted, to me. I'm not sure how I feel about Rose trying to put him back in touch with God. On the one hand, we know that once upon a time, he was a religious person and almost certainly there's a part of him that mourns the loss of his faith, and if he's receptive to Rose's efforts, it probably will offer him a sense of solace. On the other hand, I was hoping for a little more of the comfort part of the h/c, which praying doesn't really offer.

I want to know what he's been doing for the past four days. Did he help with the search or did Jack make him stay behind so that he could recover from his injuries? Why have they given up the search for Claire? I want to see her storyline continued and I'd like to know what's happening to her.

Now that all that is off my chest, on to what did happen in last night's ep. Once again, they chose to give us further background on someone we've already seen flashbacks for, rather than exploring someone new. Yes, it is interesting to finally learn a little more about Kate's crime and yes, I'm still curious to know more. Was she under arrest for the bank job or for killing the man who put that little toy airplane in the safe deposit box? And what is the real significance of the little airplane? Why was Kate willing to go to such extremes to get it?

That being said, I'd like to learn more about some of the so-far unexplored characters such as Hurley or even the brat-siblings. Maybe next week for that. It looks from the promos as if that episode is going to focus more on Boone and Shannon.

I'm enjoying the relationship between Kate and Sawyer. She's drawn to him (she seems to like bad boys), but at the same time, she's determined to keep a fairly contemptuous edge in her manner whenever she interacts with him. Watching her and Sawyer try to outwit each other for ownership of the suitcase was fun. Watching Sawyer devolve into chimpanzee-like behavior in an effort to open the suitcase was also fun. Jack was smart enough to realize there was more going on than Kate would say, and he wasn't fooled by her attempt to disguise the fact that she'd found the key, but he still seems far too ready to do whatever she wants him to do, even if he thinks he's being smart about it all. (I kinda wish I had that power over men, lol.)

Boy, me too! We need a whole episode of nothing but Charlie h/c.

A whole episode of Charlie h/c... Oh, that does sound delightful. Maybe we can get them to film a filler episode for the DVD, lol.

I'm so with you. I was really disappointed in the ep, mainly because there was so little Charlie, but also because Kate is beginning to get on my nerves. If I were Jack, I wouldn't trust her either. Of course, if I were Kate, I wouldn't trust Jack. And Sawyer? I think I'm beginning to like him. And that disturbs me. I actually felt a bit of a pang for Shannon last night and she's irritated the piss out of me from the get-go. But I like the idea of her working with Sayed. And maybe more. ;-) I hope next week's ep delivers more than this week's, 'cause this week's didn't do anything for me but annoy me. I hate it when that happens.

I was trying to not be disappointed in the ep because there are some things I really liked about it, but yeah, slightly disappointing.

I've been on the edge of liking Sawyer from the beginning. I never fall over the edge into totally being in to his character, but he is far more interesting than Jack and Kate. But I really do like Claire, who has been gotten rid of for the duration.

As I mentioned to shirebound, I think we should lobby for a filler episode for the DVD. Maybe half the ep could be Charlie h/c and other half could be what's going on with Claire. :)

Oh? Do you know something I don't? I really want her to come back, 'cause I just adored her.

I don't know anything. I'm wondering if TPTB've decided they don't want to deal with labor and delivery and have simply taken the most expeditious means to make her disappear until after the blessed event.

I want her to come back as well, as she's got a very interesting story line going, she has a lovely personality, and the relationship between her and Charlie is so sweet.
