So Lost didn't suck last night! I was totally prepared for a 'love triangle from hell' episode, based on last week's previews (a good reason to avoid those blasted previews) and that was not at all what we got.

I'm growing to love Sawyer more and more, and I even kind of like the Sawyer/Kate pairing. I loved the 'I Never' drinking game they played. Those two understand each other better than either of them would really like to admit, I think, and it was good to see a bit of honesty coming from each of them.

We're really starting to see some of the connections between their pre-flight lives. I loved the random conversation between Sawyer and Jack's dad at the bar, although I am now feeling even more contempt for Jack's dad than I was before. "There's a payphone over there, I could call my son and tell him all of this and make it all better. But I won't because I'm weak." Asshat!

I'm going to have to watch the shooting scene over again. It was late and I had the volume low to not disturb the housemate, and consequently I couldn't really hear what was said between Frank and Sawyer, but I got the impression that Sawyer killed the wrong guy. Stupid eejit!

I'm still curious to find out what got Sawyer pulled in to police station while Boone was trying to get help for his sister. He had to have been released in a day or two, free, or else he's on the run.

I was also very happy to see that Charlie was suffering the consequences for having killed Ethan. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think it was necessarily wrong to have killed Ethan, but there is a heavy weight of responsibility that goes along with being judge, jury and executioner like that. I'm glad the writers are acknowledging that and showing that Charlie is struggling to figure out how to be this new person that he's becoming. And of course, I loved that sweet little moment at the end between Charlie and Claire.

I'm loving Sayid today, as well. He had very little to do in this episode, but that moment with Sawyer in the beginning was too fun. I just loved the look on his face as he laughs at Sawyer and then gets uncomfortable when Sawyer starts going on about the voices in the jungle.

Ah, this show is so damn good! :)

Lol! It really is fun that you never really know what's going to happen next or how things are going to turn out because the threads are all so twisted around and knotted together. It's like those pencil mazes where you have to figure out which strand leads to the finish.

Right there with you on the Sayid love. It's growing in leaps and bounds.

I am distraught, I was in the kitchen so I totally missed the Hurley-Charlie Burying Ethan scene. From what I've heard it was possibly the best scene of the episode.

She is SUCH a Mary Sue! I'm just thankful she hasn't turned into MacGuyver yet. She'd have rigged up a working phone system with coconuts and vines, found a way to use gunpowder from the bullets to rig a flare, whipped up a nice safe little raft for a small crew to sail on, and then used various bits of aircraft to take care of that pesky people-eating thing.

I had a LOT of trouble getting through the opening sequence, probably because I knew my not-quite-12-yr-old son was watching it, too. *shudders* That has to take the cake for most horrific nightmare ever depicted on a tv screen. Poor Sawyer! Now I AM starting to really, really like him. How can you NOT want to comfort someone so tortured? And the more I see them together, the more I like Sawyer/Kate. I do hope he's not the "one of the original 14" who is done in at the end of the season.

Charlie! Oh! Be still my beating heart! Loved, loved, LOVED the Sayid moment where he tried to talk to the PTSD-out sweetie pie, wanted to thwap the boy on the backside of his head when he pushed Claire away, but adored the walk on the beach at the end. Now SOMEBODY has got to write that convo, am I right?

So, so love Hurley, the great-big ole teddy bear! Can't wait to see HIS ep!

That was definitely a pretty horrible opening sequence. Poor Sawyer. But I did like Kate's little jab during the "I Never" game. "I never carried a letter around with me for twenty years because I couldn't get over my baggage." Well, no, but she did break into a bank to steal a little toy airplane and that's not much better.

I really do want to see Hurley's ep. I wonder what his story is going to be. He seems like such a nice, normal guy, but I'm sure he has just as many weird issues as everyone else on this island. I'm just waiting for him to fall apart, then everyone will realize exactly how much he's been holding everything together. He's been taking care of everyone right from the get go. I loved, loved, loved that talk he had with Sayid about PTSD because he was so worried about Charlie.

I loved that moment too. He seems to have adopted Charlie, sort of like a big brother. Like Jack has. And apparently Sayid as well. Oh, heck, who *wouldn't* want to adopt the boy? That look on his face, at the end of last week's ep, when he's looking at Claire and says "It was imaginary peanut butter, actually" he looks so sweet and so adorable and so perfectly kissable it still makes my heart go pitter-patter to think on it. Too precious for words. *sigh*

It was a really good episode for moving the plot along; we knew about *what* had happened with Sawyer's parents--now we see the "how" and it goes a long way to explaining just how he ended up the way he is.
I've like Sayid from the start, and he's just getting more and more likable. I loved the humorous moments with Sawyer at the beginning. I also got a big kick from the way everyone reacted to Sawyer's whole "that boar has it in for me" thing.
I knew there was a good reason for Charlie not going with Claire at first, but wasn't sure what it would be until the whole burying thing.
I *love* Hurley. Forget Jack, Hurley's the one holding everyone together--he's looking out for everyone, he knows everyone's names--even the "red shirt" extras. I *really* wish that they would get around to his backstory!
And Jack's dad--even more of an idiot and a jerk than I thought he was. If it weren't for him, Sawyer would never have ended up falling for that set-up by his old partner.

This is so true, and he really takes his role seriously. I'm wondering what sort of trauma in his past has caused him to be so aware of the stresses everyone around him is suffering from. Or maybe he was just a psych student before the crash, lol.

Good grief, Jack's dad just pissed me off with that whole bit about egging Sawyer on. And admitting how easy it would be to call Jack and yet not doing it because, why? Oh, yes, because he's a pathetic loser and he likes it that way. I know it's hard for Jack, but I'm not really mourning the old guy's death.
