I'm one episode away from the end of the Sixth Doctor. Which means I've been watching Trial of a Time Lord.

I've seen the first three parts of Trial of a Time Lord, and so far I liked part three best. Mainly because I immediately loved Mel. I was a bit worried, honestly, that because she was a part of Six's future, and Six regenerates at the end of this series, that we wouldn't see her again. But I cheated and looked ahead to reassure myself that she continues on as Seven's companion at least for one episode (that's as far as I looked).

I've made no secret of the fact that I didn't like Peri and I didn't like the way she and Six interacted. That being said, I also thought her death was pretty casually handled. I was, admittedly, not paying a huge ton of attention, but all of a sudden, she's been mindwiped and animated by a grotesque little slug-like Ferengi wannabe, with no possibility of restoration. At least her body gets a decent destruction via Brian Blessed and his slo-mo "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" of death.

Back to Mel. I like a companion who can run rings around her Doctor. She's the opposite of everything I hated in Peri and I hope that continues later on.

I've seen people refering to the Valeyard pretty frequently but I've never really bothered to figure out who/what he is, so the last episode should be good, given that it explains all that. Which will give me one more little piece of the puzzle that is the Doctor.

I never got the chance to see much of Six or any of Seven, back in the day. (I did get to see some of Two, most of Three, and all of Four and Five.)

Back to Mel. I like a companion who can run rings around her Doctor. She's the opposite of everything I hated in Peri and I hope that continues later on.

I do like a companion who can keep the Doctor on his toes (which is why Donna is a favorite of mine.)

BTW: Have you ever seen the webcomic, "The Ten Doctors"? It is one of the most brilliant fanfics on the Doctor I've ever read! Every single Doctor from One through Ten, practically every companion, every villian and most of the allies make an appearance at some point or other! Really amazingly done, and the artist captures every Doctor, etc. personality in a delightful minimalist style.

He's got some other fics featuring some of the other classic Who Doctors in various crossovers. (I loved the one with "Forever Knight").

I haven't seen The Ten Doctors yet. Thanks for the link, I'm eager to check it out. My computer should be getting fixed this weekend, and then I'll be able to do all sorts of fun things like click on links again. *can't wait*
