Holy crap, Pens, wtf!?! End of the second period, you're up 4-2, end of the game you're down 4-7? How does that even happen? So annoyed.

[livejournal.com profile] eve11 and I watched the game at Silky's. Eve's 'lite' beers were apparently not so lite, so I ended up driving us home. I haven't driven a car in something like four years so it was an adrenaline-filled adventure but it was only 1.5 miles and it was late enough that there was almost no traffic. We made it back to my place without incident, yay! And there was a wide open swath of sidewalk with no cars, so I didn't have to parallel park. This is key, since I somehow managed to get a license (I'm still not sure how I managed to get a license in the first place) without ever learning how to parallel park.

The Pens are having one giant bummer of a season so far, hope it improves soon but I'm not holding my breath.

I was planning to send you an email today, apologizing for trying to talk to you on the phone while at a noisy bar, lol.

Luckily, Eve had planned to crash on my couch, so she had an overnight bag and everything. That made it much simpler.

I had supreme confidence in you. You did great; thanks for saving my buzzed behind ;)

I remember watching the third period and thinking things were going well and then suddenly being tied. Boo.

2 goal lead, the most dangerous lead in hockey. I wish I could have more confidence in our boys, but man, they've blown too many leads this year. I don't know if it's just the addition of a bunch of new d-men who are still trying to get used to a new system, in addition to Gogo still being only two months into his second NHL season and paired with a rookie (that can't be a good plan, really), or if they're really still hurting from missing Staal (Rossi would have us believe that Staal is the second coming of Christ and all will be well, once he's finally playing again), or if they're not getting what they need from Bylsma, or what. But they better frickin' figure it out!

I'm sorry that the Pens put in such a poor performance in the second half of the game. Congrats on your successful Designated Driver performance though!

The driving was fun once I got over the sheer terror of getting started. :)

Very few people out there know how to parallel park, so don't feel bad. In fact, very few people out there actually know how to drive safely at all! LoL Glad you're one of the safe ones!
=D

The danger with driving after a long break like that was more being over-cautious than not enough, lol.

Yeah, parallel parking was sort of like OJT for me too.

I suppose there's a possibility that some day I'll have a car and have to figure it out, but for the moment, I'm lucky enough to be spared that. :)

I think I theoretically know how to parallel park, but I've never done it. I also got away with getting my license with ever taking a driving test.

[identity profile] auntiemeesh.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm with you on the in theory part for parallel parking. I know people who've failed their tests several times because of it, so I'm extra grateful that the guy who tested me was clearly in a forgiving mood.

[identity profile] westwindschild.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Now, avoiding the driving test altogether is quite the trick. :)

I had to take the test 3 times, but I've been a stellar driver for so many years now that I don't really feel that it's relevant anymore. I was a little jealous that DB got his license on the first try, and only needed one pass to parallel park perfectly, but then I realized that with me for a driving teacher he couldn't be anything but a great driver, lol (which is no doubt why I still bite my nails when he is out more than an hour or 2 later than I expect).

I think it's one of those things that some people are just going to be able to do naturally and others aren't. It probably has to do with geometry and visualization of angles and all that stuff that I don't do.
