Holy crap, Pens, wtf!?! End of the second period, you're up 4-2, end of the game you're down 4-7? How does that even happen? So annoyed.

[livejournal.com profile] eve11 and I watched the game at Silky's. Eve's 'lite' beers were apparently not so lite, so I ended up driving us home. I haven't driven a car in something like four years so it was an adrenaline-filled adventure but it was only 1.5 miles and it was late enough that there was almost no traffic. We made it back to my place without incident, yay! And there was a wide open swath of sidewalk with no cars, so I didn't have to parallel park. This is key, since I somehow managed to get a license (I'm still not sure how I managed to get a license in the first place) without ever learning how to parallel park.

I had all sorts of new driving experiences today.

la la la driving )

P wanted to write a drabble for the [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_ficathon challenge. Although she doesn't really get the whole hobbit thing, she was intriqued by the challenge. So she wrote a little drabble using original hobbit characters and then we set up a livejournal for her, with which to post it. So my sister is now online as [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl, and she has posted her first fic on the ficathon. *grins*

Only 80 days until Dragon*con. Good thing I actually worked on that costume yesterday and today. It's coming along nicely. I have the pattern pretty much worked out, just have to figure the peplum out. I'm pretty sure that's how it's made, but I haven't decided for 100% certain. I've also started preparing to quilt the vest fabric. It would have been nice if I could have found prequilted fabric, but I didn't so I'll do it by hand. I've got the quilt pattern nearly all laid out, just have to finish one set of diagonals. Then I have to make a quick trip to Walmart or somewhere similar and buy a quilting hoop, seeing as I failed to think ahead and keep that with me (sent it off to Harrisburg without a second thought).

Did some more driving today. I've gotten pretty comfortable with cruising along at 40mph on dinky little, perpetually empty roads, but today my sister surprised me by heading out on the highway with a 55mph limit. It was a nice wide, empty highway so it was great to be able to get a little speed. So far we've spent most of my driving time on roads that don't get a lot of traffic, but P seems to think I need to start doing some driving in town, dealing with intersections and traffic and other such unavoidables of driving. I can do that. I'm sure I can. *tenses up just slightly* I'm also spending a lot of time practicing things like parking and reversing and parking while reversing. I haven't hit anything, so I suppose I'm doing okay. But we'll keep practicing, lol. P's plan is that by next Friday, when we drive to Boston, I can help with the driving on the interstate. I suppose that's a good thing. It scares the hell out of me, but I have to get over that fear if I want to be a person who drives.

Getting closer every day to having internet on my computer again (please let me have internet on my computer soon). We got the DSL hooked up on P and Mr. P's computer this evening, but we need to acquire networking cables and such before we can establish a network and then hook me up to that network. But it will happen sometime this week, with any luck.

ETA: Let me just add, DSL is so much faster than dial-up! I had forgotten what it feels like to not need something to do while I'm waiting for each screen to load. :D

That's New Hampshire's state motto, and boy do they take it seriously.

What a wacky state )

I'm having some trouble these days with lj and I don't know if it's an lj problem or something with my sister's computer (yes, I'm still on her computer with the dial up). I can't update from the bar at the top. I have to go to my user info page and click on the little blue pencil to get be able to compose a post. Also, and I'm sure it's just my sister's comp. being cranky, I have to refresh constantly in order to see the most recent posts and comments. I mean, when I come to lj and go to my flist, I have to refresh immediately before it will show me the five or ten most recent posts and when I click on a specific post, say one that I commented on yesterday, I will immediately have to refresh before it will show the comment I posted. Grr! It makes it difficult. However, I'm happy to have any internet access at all, and will just continue to use this until we get the DSL ordered. Once I'm back on my own little computer, I'll have a lot more leisure to sit back and read stories and such. For now, that will have to wait. Although I may download some of the talechallenge stories onto my little portable drive and read them from the comfort of my own computer, off line. :)

On Wednesday I was out and about, running around with my sister, and we stopped for dinner at a local restaurant. It was around eight o'clock and my thoughts flew to Pittsburgh and the FCG. I imagined them, at Hunan Kitchen, sitting around eating and talking and pranking one another. I hope you had a good time, guys. My sister did her best to fill in, but it just wasn't the same.
