I came home from work to a very constipated and unhappy cat. Poor Mal. There's not much I can do to help him, other than just let him prowl around the apartment, crouching wherever he pleases until he manages to work it all out of his system. The first time this happened, it really freaked me out - he's so uncomfortable, he'll puke up all his food, it's hard to see (not to mention having to clean up the mess when he finally gets things going). But it does seem to be something he just has to work out on his own.

Meanwhile all I really want to focus on is the Pens game tonight. If they win, they win the Stanley Cup. If they win it at home tonight, it would be the first time since 1960 that a Pittsburgh team won a championship actually in Pittsburgh. So it's just a little bit of a big deal.

Is there a 'stool softener' for cats, like there is for people?

I have to look into that. Luckily, Mal usually works it out within a day (it took him about half an hour after I got home tonight) but for that period of time, he doesn't let me get near him, so it would have to go on long enough for me to make an appointment with the vet for him. He's getting a bit middle-aged, I guess, same as me, and we all get a few foibles as we go. :(

I'm glad Mal managed to work out his problem quickly. It sounds very unpleasant for both of you.

I'm sorry the Pens didn't do it last night. I hope they wrap it up on Sunday!

I'm sorry to hear about Mal's misfortune- hope he is getting better or is all the way better by now.

I was disappointed that the Pens did not win last night, but hopefully they will tomorrow. Would you like to get together and go somewhere to watch the game? (or on Sunday - whatever day the next game is?)

I used to give Mai a kitty laxative that was like molasses. Have you ever tried that. Sometimes they will lick it from your finger. I didn't use as often with Sibbie but when I did she always limped until she got it licked off her leg. Just one of her idiosyncrasies.
