I'm glad I managed to get a few pics of the costume before I left for the party yesterday, because I didn't get any at the party. But it was a fun night. I know the hostess, have met her boyfriend and didn't know anyone else at all. But I managed to mingle and do a little socializing anyway, and spent a lot of time just hanging out watching and listening. And there was some dancing. I haven't danced in years so that was tremendous fun!

The costumes were fun. A guy in a Tyler Myers jersey with an old school goalie mask. A cool go-go dancer outfit, Peg and Al Bundy, Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, Mrs. Ben Roethlisberger. Someone came as a burger, friend C was a lion. Al Borland from Home Improvement (really drunk, high and pretty obnoxious, unfortunately), the Blind Melon bee, a neutrino, the ballerina from Black Swan, a bunch of other stuff I either can't remember or didn't get.

I got home around 3:45, which is hugely late for me these days, and it still took me over an hour to fall asleep. I hate my brain some days. But I made myself get up "early" so that there is some hope of sleeping tonight. Somehow I have a feeling today will not be the most productive day ever, lol.

It's a beautiful, clear and breezy night. The full moon is shining down into my living room like a cold, white sun. It's so bright even my dinky little camera can get some sort of picture.

This must be the explanation for the kids at work today. They were acting suspiciously crazy and violent, like very small werewolves, claws included. At least we were able to take them outside a lot this week. I'm not sure I would have survived, sanity intact, otherwise.

Such a sucker for my kitties am I. After thirteen months of Mal and Zoe keeping a careful distance, I turned on my little desk lamp in my very dark living room and spied this:

They were so very casual about it, too, like they sleep back to back all the time and couldn't understand what all the fuss was when I went running for the camera. *hearts adorable cats*

After the rain we had last week and over the weekend, the skies have cleared up and returned to Blinding Blue. On my walk to work yesterday, I passed a little garden and saw a butterfly just hanging out on one of the flowers. So of course I had to pull out my handy dandy camera and snap a few pics.

In other interactions with wildlife, I had a spider drop onto my face as I was trying to get to sleep last night. This was after I finally got relaxed and comfy, after an hour and a half of tossing and turning. I was finally almost asleep and then I'm up and flailing. Turned on the lights, tossed back the pillows and sheets and found the sucker in the middle of the bed, stunned. *shudders* I'm very polite to bugs outside, in nature, but inside my house, they are toast.

Sadly, it put paid to any relaxation I might have found earlier and it was another two or three hours of tossing and turning before I finally fell asleep. Looooonnnnggggg night.

Mm, pie

It was a good day. Nice and cool and cloudy, with a little drizzly/misty rain. The kind of day that I love, especially after a long run of hot, sunny days (no, I don't like summer, why do you ask?). It rained lightly the whole walk home and it felt very refreshing. I was almost home when I had to stop to watch a pair of bunnies on the lawn of my neighborhood church.

I caught this picture a week or so ago, on a cloudy morning when there was only one bunny out. This afternoon there were two. I stood still and waited to see what they were going to do, but apparently what they wanted to do was freeze in the hopes that the scary monster (me) wouldn't see them. It was laughable, in that they were not even slightly camoflauged or hidden, so the whole freezing in self-defense trick wasn't really helping. But I felt bad because they were clearly scared, so I moved along and let them get back to eating their supper.

[livejournal.com profile] eve11 called me shortly after I got home, so see if I wanted to grab a bite to eat. Being the sort who would really rather eat anywhere other than home, I jumped at the chance. We ended up at Gullifty's, where I had a mediocre chicken taco salad and an exceptionally yummy deep dish apple walnut pie. Gullifty's is much more known for their desserts than their meals.

We spent the evening talking hockey, hockey, and maybe just a bit more hockey. Only one more game and then it's a long hockey drought until next October. Hopefully, the Pens will make it an excellent last game. It would be so sweet if they won and brought the Stanley Cup to Pittsburgh, but mainly, I just want them to not have a crappo, blowout kind of game.

It's a beautiful, sunny (slightly chilly) morning in Pittsburgh, so I thought I'd post some pictures from last week. We had a heavy fog on St. Patrick's Day and I snapped a few pics on the way to work, then dumped them into my photo album and forgot all about them. Here they are, now.

Outside my door, looking left down the street.

Around the corner, heading towards the cemetery.

I'm sure it was much worse outside the city than it was in, but it was eerie enough, here. I was walking up the hill to work and could hear a bus coming down the hill but couldn't see it. Then it was like a ghost materializing out of the mist, as first the headlights, then a vague outline of the bus became visible. Kinda cool.

On Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl, [livejournal.com profile] whtmtnwmn, Shadow, Ben, Bowie and I did a hike up to Dome Rock.

Today was an outside day. [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl and I primed the wraparound porch so that LP can paint it tomorrow. Then we took Shadow and went out for a woods walk, heading out to Shelbourne to hike up the Austin Brook Trail to Mount Crag.
