Howdy all!
May. 28th, 2005 06:32 pmI've made it as far as Wilkes-Barre. This feels like something of an accomplishment. After saying goodbye to everyone at work yesterday,
eve11 picked me up, we loaded up the car (with one or two little interruptions) and headed out, arriving at her family homestead around 7ish. Her sister was already out grilling so we had some very yummy cheeseburgers and salad, which we ate while watching Team America: World Police. Such a funny movie!
This morning we got up bright and early and got back on the road, arriving in W-B only a little past our 10am target. After transfering all my belongings from the back of Eve's car to the back of my sister's car (and bits and pieces stuffed into her husband's car as well), Eve headed back. My mom, younger brother and I then went to an Irish Festival about forty-five minutes from my mom's.
The festival was fun, if a bit on the cold and rainy side. We saw several good bands, including The Charlie Zham Trio and Blackwater. We froze because the weather forcast was mid-seventies and showers. What we got was maybe mid-fifties and a steady downpour, but it was worth it.
I lucked out and got a hotel room for the night, so I won't have to sleep on the roll-away bed in the dining room. This is a good thing!
