Hero of the day
Jan. 18th, 2007 09:12 pmWe had a guest lecturer in class today - another professor from the program, trying to relate her class to ours (our class is the archives version of her class, but we don't learn the same things). Turns out she processed Tolkien's manuscripts at Marquette University, back in the seventies! How cool is that?
I felt a little guilty this afternoon. Yesterday I didn't go out with the FCG because I wanted to get today's assignment done, but then I couldn't actually make myself sit down and work on it. So today, after class, I planned to come straight home and get it done. But no. What did I do instead? I went out with some of the girls from class. And then came home buzzed and finished the assignment. It seems I could have gone out last night after all. Sometimes I'm just stupid, that way.
I had fun with the girls, though. I've been watching this particular group since last fall - they travel everywhere in a pack and it's slightly scary sometimes, but individually, they're all pretty cool people. So, finding myself inadvertently doing a semester-long group project with them, I decided to make friends. I don't think I could hang out with them all the time - they are all a good 10-12 years younger than me and a little obsessed with shopping and boys, but occasionally it will be nice to have a group to go out with. We've got tickets to go see Cabaret next month and we're planning a couple of Saturday nights out, as well. :)
Sadly, the really bad vodka in my Screwdriver did nothing for the headache I've been nursing all day. Now my poor little head really, really hurts so I'm going to try to find something non-taxing to do with it.
