As planned, I dragged myself off to Student Health this morning, to get poked and prodded. I ended up with the same young doctor I had last time. He asked about my jaw pain (still going strong) and then turned his attention to my back. Confirmed my suspicion that there isn't really anything to do, medically, to make it better. Give it a month or two and it should resolve itself. *sigh* He did give me a prescription for a muscle relaxant to help me sleep while I'm waiting, so that's a plus.
In the meanwhile, I've spent the better part of the last two and a half days mainlining House M.D. I've now finished season one. I've seen isolated episodes of all three seasons, but it's always good to get things in order, from the beginning. The episodes have good continuity, with a lot of reference to previous episodes while keeping the medical cases confined to single episodes. While I understand the fear of TPTB that shows will become too serialized and inaccessible to new audiences, and less likely to do well in syndication, I think the shows are just better when that sort of reference to previous events is included. When episodes are entirely bottled, it doesn't allow for any growth or change in the characters or situation, and the show becomes really boring, really quickly.
Okay, I've been away from my comfy seat on the sofa for a whole half hour and my back, which was feeling much better, is feeling much crappier again. Time to return to the sofa and some movies. I think I'll watch Serenity.
