A birthday made of win
Mar. 8th, 2008 11:52 pmYesterday,
eve11 picked me up from work and we drove to the Waterfront for burgers at Fuddruckers with some work friends. It being a Friday night during Lent, the burger joint was not exactly hopping, so we had our pick of tables, but ended up hanging out in the bar area anyway. A good burger, some great fries and one screwdriver later, we separated, work friends to head to their respective homes, Eve and I across the way to the movie theater.
We stopped in at the bar at Loew's, due to being pretty early, with plenty of time for a second, much stronger drink. Due to my extremely low tolerance, I was nicely buzzed when we got into the theater and found some seats. We saw Juno and I liked it a lot. I liked the characters and the way the story played out. It's been years since I've seen Jason Bateman in anything and it was kinda weird to see him as the not-quite but almost middle-aged guy (just in case the birthday alone wasn't making me feel old).
Afterwards, we kind of tooled around for a little while, trying to figure out exactly what it is that cool people do at 10:30 on a Friday night. We were, however, forced to admit that we are not cool people and we don't have a clue. After much debate and some random driving around, we settled for heading back to my place, both of us consuming much advil to combat a whole host of pains, and then watching some Dark Angel. I only lasted one episode before a sore throat, runny nose and slight feverish feel made me give up the ghost and go to bed. Eve crashed, so that she wouldn't have to make a forty minute to an hour drive late in bad weather.
This morning I was feeling much better and we hit up the ever popular Eat-N-Park for breakfast, then went on a mad shopping spree. I bought socks, underwear and a belt at Target, shirts and a sweater at Old Navy and dvds at Best Buy (SGA season 3 and Bones season 1). After dropping all of that off at home, we turned around and spent an hour or so at CMU working on my resume/her article revisions, until boredom/hunger/frustration drove us off in search of a very late lunch. Fuel & Fuddle provided us with taco pizzas, chicken chili and crabcakes. So very yummy.
Finally, it was time to come home and allow the birthday festivities to come to a close. After watching SGA 4x20, I put on my season three dvds and had a fun feast of all things SGA. Now I'm feeling a bit dicey again and just about ready for bed. Tomorrow is another busy day full of laundry, resume revisions and SGA. Can't wait.
