Apr. 15th, 2008 01:43 pmWe were supposed to plant seeds today in science. But the teacher who was in charge of buying the pots couldn't find any - apparently there's been a run on little terra cotta pots since the weather turned nice. So instead, we read a book about our bodies and then traced the kids' bodies on butcher paper. Instead of having them do the standard, draw clothing onto the bodies, we asked them to draw what's inside their bodies. Some of them did a really amazing job. One girl drew a brain, a heart-shaped heart, an esophagus, a stomach and some very well-done intestines, as well as a skeleton. I was, quite frankly, somewhat awed at what this four-year-old was able to do with the activity. I really do love these damn kids some days.
Running was great today - I did 3.25 miles, after being plateaued at 3 miles for a good long time. I only wish I could run fast longer than the last quarter mile - it's the best part of the run, but I just don't have the stamina/lung power to do it for any longer than that. I suppose I should push myself to start running a little faster a little earlier in the run.
I bashed the heel of my hand, somehow, Friday night while watching the hockey game. I didn't even notice it until a half-hour later or so, when it was visibly swollen and sore. Now it's a lovely reddish-purplish, fading bruise from the heel of my hand, half way up my thumb, into the middle of my palm and wrapped around the base of my index finger. It's tres pretty. It's also still a little sore, whenever I have to do much of anything with my hand that involves contact with other surfaces. Tracing the kids was easy, helping them on and off the table we were using was less pleasant, I must say.
