Jul. 12th, 2008 05:36 pmIt's hot today, relatively speaking. 87F at five-thirty in the evening, well past the hottest part of the day. Humidity isn't as bad as it could be (somewhere around 45%) but still, it feels thick out there. So of course today was the day to do my walking around. Not to run errands or anything productive like that. Just to get out of the apartment and not feel like a total couch potato for the day.
I browsed around B&N for awhile, picked up Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett, and Old Man's War by John Scalzi. It was one of those weird days were, despite seeing a ton of books I wanted last time, this time I couldn't find anything that interested me much, but I wanted both of these, so I picked them up.
Lunch at Panera. Not terribly exciting, but pretty yummy none the less. Some sort of Sesame chicken salad and a cup of turkey chickpea chili.
Then on to the movie theater to see Hellboy II, which I really liked quite a lot. I've got all sorts of absurdly thinky-thoughts about it, which I may or may not get around to posting some day, and I think I'll probably have to see it again to solidify some things in my mind.
Next it was on to Rite Aid to grab some water and a microwave meal for supper because it was still an hour and a half before the next bus was going to come and I didn't have anything else to pass the time, which meant that I couldn't buy real groceries (not even gonna try carrying twenty or thirty pounds of food, half of it perishable) home in this heat.
Last stop, Baskin Robbins. I almost never want ice cream, but it was hot and I've been thinking about mint chocolate chip ice cream ever since we charted our favorite ice creams with the kids a couple weeks ago. So I bought a single scoop of mint chocolate chip on a sugar cone and ate it on the way home. Oh yeah, it was yummy.
Now I'm home and ready to relax for the evening.
