Sheesh! I have become so picky when it comes to fanfic that I'm willing to read. Far too often now I encounter my favorite characters behaving in OOC ways and just backspacing away. Often times the stories are written with at least an acceptable level of grammatical understanding but the behavior of the characters is too forced. The writer wants to see a particular scene or interaction and forces the story to take her there, but it just doesn't work. If you want to write first time slash fic, okay, I'm up for that, but only if you manage to make it believable that those two characters would actually have sex in that situation, under the conditions that the author has set up. If you want to set up a dire straits scenario, fine, but don't have the characters defying all established behaviors and protocol to get them into that situation. It makes me sad, because I really want to be able to lose myself in a good long fic, but there are so few authors that I trust anymore. And because they are good authors who take the time to make sure their stories work, they don't write nearly as much as I want. *pouts*
