Ah, babysitting. Sometimes it goes better than others. This afternoon, I started earlier than usual, and had time to take the kids outside after supper ("actually, we call it dinner," the six-year-old informed me, as if I was perhaps the dumbest person on the planet). I haven't had a chance to just throw a football around with someone (even someone very small) for a while, so it was a lot of fun. And then the parents ducked in for a few minutes on their way from one thing to another, and both were pleased and surprised to see the kids outside. Apparently the 6 yr. old can be a bit lazy sometimes. So, bonus for getting caught in the act of being a good babysitter.
And then I came home to an apartment that smells of cat pee. I can't find any wet spots, so I don't know where the smell is coming from, but I can tell you that tomorrow there will be a more thorough cleaning than I have bothered with in a while. And there will be a stern talking to with Tookie, as well. Just because she's old and feeble doesn't mean she can pee anywhere she wants. She's not that feeble. Now, I just hope the vacuum cleaner still works. Mal has turned his attentions from my laptop cord to the vacuum cord in the past week or so, and he's been gnawing ferociously. Cats!
