Celebrate!

The dress is done.* This is a huge relief! It means I can spend the next two evenings cleaning my apartment so it isn't such a nasty disaster when the petsitters come. It also means I can relax a little and try to get some sleep the next few nights, since I seem to have built up quite a sleep debt the past couple of weeks. I got nine hours in last night and still felt exhausted this morning. This does not bode well for my stamina at D*C.

It is September first, and it was 48F when I got up this morning. Brr! The afternoons are supposed to warm up nicely for the foreseeable future, but Mother Nature is letting us know that summer is over, regardless of what the calendar says. I do not mind one bit.

*With the caveat that I still have some fiddling around to do with the skirt's hem, which I can do a little at a time, as time permits, since I'm not wearing that costume until Sunday.

Artificial intelligence? Robotic life? A wiring glitch?

With one thing and another, I haven't used my Wii at all this summer. And due to a couple of power outages, it's been all the way powered down for a while now (so that the power light, which is normally yellow, went all the way to red). And then this morning, as I'm getting ready to walk out the door, I realize I'm hearing a whirring noise that isn't the fan on my laptop. Hm. I followed the sound to the source and realized that the Wii was turned on. This is a bit mystifying since the hand controller isn't anywhere that the cats might have stepped on it. And now, this evening, the blue light in the disc slot is blinking and glowing at me. I think the machine is trying to tell me something. I've promised it that we'll spend some quality time together after Dragon Con. I hope that's enough to settle it down for a while.
