oh my achin' back
Dec. 30th, 2009 02:00 pmI have triumphed over a vicious enemy. Yes, that is right, I have vanquished the empty cupboards of my neglected little apartment.
After putting it off for days, I forced myself out the front door and into the winter cold. Up the long hill to civilization, where I had some butternut squash soup (pretty yummy) and a mandarin medley salad (not so yummy and far too salty). Then on to the bookstore. My neighborhood B&N is closing tomorrow. And the one decent local bookstore being long gone, I'm going to have to go without for a while. *sadface* But they still had a nearly full selection of books today, so it was a good last visit. And then, girding my loins, I braved the evil grocery store.
It's not so much the grocery store itself that I hate, really. There's food at the grocery store, and I like food, so you would think this would be a good place to go. The thing I hate is carrying all those groceries home on my back (well, half on my back, half dangling from my arms). And then, after lugging what feels like an entire store home, I put my groceries away and realize that my cupboards (and fridge) are still mostly empty and if I really want to have a well-stocked kitchen, I would have to go again tomorrow and buy another whole heavy load of things, which will not happen.
But, I have some salad stuff, some sandwich stuff, some cereal, some fruit, and some boxes of stuff to heat up and serve with rice or something. So, yay, I have food in my kitchen once again!
