Well, the worst of Hell Month is over and I've made it through successfully. We have three more days to go at work before we officially hand our kiddies over to their new teachers and accept our own batch of new kiddies. Everyone in the room successfully finished all of their parent/teacher conferences, nearly all of the pre-cleaning day prep work is done and it's a three day weekend. Woot!

Yesterday was pretty much a lost day, as I got my period, slept in till 11:30, watched a ten-episode Doctor Who story (The War Games - Patrick Troughton's last outing as the second Doctor), took a nap, 'watched' the Pirates game, watched another, much shorter Doctor Who story (Spearhead from Space - Jon Pertwee's first outing as the third Doctor) and went to bed, still feeling exhausted.

I'm feeling much better today, but very grateful that I don't have to go back to work tomorrow.

My to-do list for today:

Figure out what station the Pirates games are carried on, so I can listen to the game while cleaning
Fold and put away last week's clean laundry
Tidy up this week's dirty laundry (I have no quarters, so actually doing the laundry will have to wait till a later date)
Sweep/mop bedroom floor
Sweep/mop bathroom floor
Clean kitchen counter
Wash the dishes in the sink
Load and run the dishwasher
Sweep/mop kitchen floor
Tidy living room
Wash living room windows
Sort/organize work papers in desk
Take cardboard recycling out to bins
Make ice cubes
Enjoy evening cookout with family

I have no expectation that I will finish everything on the list, but it's good to have choices!

Update: Wow, for once I created a to-do list that almost perfectly matched my energy and willingness to do things!

It was a good day. I kept pecking away at the to-do list until the only thing remaining was sorting/organizing papers. Since all those papers are tucked away in the desk, the urgency to deal with them is almost non-existent. And there are only so many hours in a day, and so much energy to devote to dealing with household stuff.

It was a very nice evening. [livejournal.com profile] ani_no_mouse drove down from Grove City, [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl got off work at 6:30 and the three of us managed to grill up some sausages, saute some onions and peppers, and hang out in the courtyard for several hours, with LP's BF. Unfortunately, someone invited a whole passel of mosquitoes which eventually drove us inside, but then we had the fun of watching the cats go crazy hunting down the ones that followed us in. I have at least one visible bite on my arm, and I suspect more will pop up before morning, but oh well, such is the reality of outside time.

Somehow this became an essay on baseball and my relationship therein )
