auntiemeesh: (dancing rosie)
I'm a day late because I gave myself Monday off. It was a long (fun) weekend, which I do want to recap but not in this post, but by Monday afternoon I was tired and headachey after a long drive so I took the day off.

So today is day fourteen of the yoga challenge. Some of the positions and movements have become familiar enough that I can follow along without looking at the laptop screen the whole time, which is super helpful in actually settling into the movements and poses. Every few days, however, we get new things, often very challenging, that still require a lot of looking at to see exactly what I should look like.

I'm still really enjoying it. Pushing myself to keep working on the things that are most difficult. Most days I just do whatever the yoga practice of the day is, but some days, like today, I add a little extra afterwards. Today was a short practice with moves that I was mostly familiar with, with one or two extra burns added in. Afterwards I did some V-boats (no idea what they are really called) stretching up with arms and out with legs, then pulling back in. I did sixteen of those before my body said enough. Then two 40 sec planks and then the side arm planks for five seconds each. My left elbow felt really dodgy but held up, barely. The right arm plank actually is starting to feel pretty good.

I debated doing some 'pushups' but decided my elbow'd had enough so I did fifer scissors instead (a set of 15).
Then grabbed the dumbbells and did one set each of bicep curls (25), overhead lifts (20) and upright rows (25). And then my arms/hands/fingers were so wonky it took about ten minutes to type the first paragraph of this post so I think that's enough. I suspect I'll be sore tomorrow but if I am, it will be for a good reason.

The cats have come to accept it really well. Even though I'm often doing my yoga right around the time they think they should be fed their dinner, they mostly leave me alone while I'm on the yoga mat. Surprisingly, this only took two or three days for them to figure out.

I'd like to be eating smaller portions of healthier foods with fewer desserts, but that continues to be a work in progress.
