Aug. 14th, 2006 08:48 pmI've missed a ton of birthdays in the past couple of months and I send out apologies to you all. So, happy birthday to Dana and everyone else that I've missed.
La la la, bored.
I know the boredom has reached critical levels when I don't even want to read fic. It's pretty desperate.
So, to entertain myself, I'm doing a book meme.

1. Choose five of your all-time favorite/influential books. (I only have a very few books here, so I'm just picking five that I liked/think are really good.)
2. Take the first sentence of the first chapter and make a list in your journal.
3. Don't reveal the author or the title of the book.
4. Now everyone try and guess.
1. It was nearing midnight and the Prime Minister was sitting alone in his office, reading a long memo that was slipping through his brain without leaving the slightest trace of meaning behind.
2. Nothing lives forever, in Heaven as it is on Earth.
3. Sundown painted purple across the great Pyramid while the Emperor enjoyed a steaming whiz against a dumpster in the alley below.
4. It was on the fifteenth of June, 1767, that Cosimo Piavasco di Rondo, my brother, sat among us for the last time.
5. The sun completed its route over the Pacific and began to set, reddening the waters around the islands of Japan.
I had a kid throw up on me today (well, almost on me, I managed to only get splashed on the leg a little). After I got the poor little guy cleaned up I had to just hang with him until his mom arrived (I really did feel bad for him - we were at the pool so all he had on was his swim trunks, he had a fever and chills and wanted to sleep so he was lying on top of his beach towel and there wasn't much I could do to wrap him up). Now I'm just waiting to see if I get this thing. *crosses fingers*
I'm getting awfully sleepy. Maybe it's time to go watch some more Firefly before bed. I'm on a bit of a kick at the moment; watched Serenity - the pilot, not the movie - and Train Job over the weekend. Once again I'm stuck wondering what the hell the folks at Fox were smoking when they made Whedon film a new pilot.
