The Stanley Cup Finals have ended, and with them the hockey season. [livejournal.com profile] antbee362 will be relieved to know that the Flyers failed to pull out the overtime win. Chicago is taking home the Cup.

The big question now is, what is a hockey fan supposed to do now? Here's one solution courtesy of Down Goes Brown, my second favorite hockey blog.

My favorite bits:

*Hope against hope that, somehow, some other sport will emerge to satisfy your passion for low-scoring games, "Ole Ole" chants, and Europeans flopping around on the ground even though nobody touched them.

*Anything you want, but do it quickly -- training camp starts on Monday.

Good thing I have a massive sewing project to keep me busy the next few months. I made a little bit of progress on that front this evening. I've ordered busks (one for me, one for [livejournal.com profile] eve11) and bid on a lacy white parasol found on ebay. I also made extensive lists of all the things I need, what I've already acquired, and what I still need to get. In addition, I've prioritized everything.

1. Buy a sewing machine
2. Make a shift and a bum roll - this is a simple start to a massively complex project and will hopefully give me confidence to move on to the trickier bits.
3. Make a corset - I did mention trickier bits, right? This would be one of them.
4. Mock up the gown - I need to change the sleeves and alter the skirt slightly.
5. Actually make the gown.
6. Figure out something for the veil. I'm leaving this for last since it won't be too hard to do once I have the materials and this way I'll have the whole summer to search Goodwill and other places for cheap material.

And because some of you expressed curiousity about what I'm doing:

And here's the pattern I'm using:

It's from an episode of Doctor Who and I'm doing a sort of generic version of one of these girls. I'm too old for the role, by a long shot, and not nearly skinny enough, but I don't particularly care. The dress is going to be fabulous and will possibly kill me in the making.
