Such fun with those ID cards isn't it? I had something of a similar problem when I was getting euros before my trip to Italy. Here the banks have stopped using pictures on the cards so that it's not a valid ID any more. I don't have a driver's lisence so I don't have the most common form of ID and I don't walk around with my (almost 10 years old, and soon not valid any more) passport because it's, y'know, invaluable. So when I walked into the bank I used, used the card from that bank saying I wanted to withdraw money I couldn't because there was no picture on the card. I was pretty angry and I told the bank guy that not EVERYONE has a driver's lisence and that someone should rethink the picture on bank cards again because it was very useful. As a result I had to take money out of the ATM go back inside and have them exchanged into euros.
I hope things get sorted out more easily than you fear with the ID.
