Tonight's movie review: Outsourced

I caught a few minutes of the tv series of this once, a few months ago, and didn't know what to make of it. So I was a little dubious going in, but I really liked it. Todd Anderson is sent to India to oversee the training of the employees of a call center that has been outsourced. It's a frustrating and fairly unsuccessful experience until he realizes that in order to make this work, he has a lot of things to learn as well. It's an independent romantic comedy, but the romance doesn't take over the whole story. I liked the acting, the script, the character development and the filmography. I loved the soundtrack. I even liked the romance element of it, which was refreshingly realistic, in that neither Todd nor Asha (an employee at the call center who takes on most of Todd's Indian education) drop everything in their lives to be together forever. At the end of the movie, Todd has returned to the States and Asha is still in India, preparing to marry the man she was engaged to when she was four. I think the movie did a good job of asking us to look at our own culture from outside, and see that our ways are just as unfathomable to others as their's may sometimes seem to be to us. Just the right amount of thinkiness while still being lots of fun. This movie gets two thumbs up from me.
