In theory the roach guy came today. I could see no indications when I got home that anyone else had been here, other than the cats being in deep hiding and the kitchen light being on. Since it's entirely possible that I left the light on and the cats are still in OMFG what's happened?!?! mode, neither of those indicators is very good. Plus, there was at least one roach still alive and kicking when I got home. Ick!
I'm sure I'll get used to this place eventually. And maybe the roach guy really was here and I just need to be patient for a few days and the problem will disappear. And I'll figure out how to keep it bearably cool all day long so the cats don't suffer from heat prostration while I'm at work, and I'll get used to the fact that every time my upstairs neighbor moves, it sounds like the floor is about to give way under him and land him and all his flooring in my apartment. I've gotten used to crappy places before, I'll get used to this one, too. I lived for over a year with an upstairs neighbor who was under house arrest for attempting to stab someone with a knife. As far as I know, none of my neighbors are homicidal, so that puts me ahead of the game, right.
