I went to see "A Walk In the Woods" today.

Robert Redford took this project on and because it was Robert Redford, he had to star in it. Which means that instead of a 44 year old Bill Bryson, we get a nearly 80 year old Bill Bryson. From that point on, it's funny and occasionally very pretty, but also pretty annoying. But then, I do tend to be a bit of a purist. A guy my age tackling the Appalachian Trail is one thing. Double that age and it becomes a lot less believable, whatever Redford might think. So, it served it's purpose as light entertainment and something to serve as background while hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] ani_no_mouse but will ultimately be filed in my 'good idea, poorly executed' mental folder.

In other news, I totally fell off the yoga wagon when I moved. There was a lot of transition while I was here, there, and everywhere. And then there was chaos here while I was trying to get everything unpacked and fitted into the available spaces. And then there was exhaustion and depression and confusion (I have thick carpeting and the yoga mat won't lay flat and nice with carpeting so I'm not sure what the best thing to do is).

BUT. As always, I want to lose a bit of weight and get a lot more toned than I currently am. Also as always, my goal is next year's Dragon Con. I want to be stronger, fitter, and have more stamina next time I go (the last couple years I have found myself crapping out early most days and being overly cranky because I'm too tired/hungry/not something enough to make it through the days). I think the right yoga routines will help with this a lot. Also, I'm walking consistently again, which will also help, at least a little.

My long-term goals are:

*Lose 10-15 lbs
*flatten the abs
*tone up my arms
*gain general day-to-day stamina so I'm not exhausted all the time (this is the one I'm not entirely sure how best to accomplish)

Short term goals:

*Walk at least 20 miles every week for the next month
*Do yoga at least five times a week
*Eat healthy portion sizes
