Yay! Talechallenges are up! Lots of great weekend reading! Okay, enough exclamation marks.
I was babysitting this evening, a six year old boy and his three year old sister. The boy is currently obsessed with rollercoasters (don't ask me why) and his parents bought him a lovely book all about great rollercoasters past and present. Several of the old wooden rollercoasters at our local park (Kennywood) were mentioned, including the Thunderbolt. The interesting thing I learned about the Thunderbolt tonight is that it's original name was Pippin! I couldn't help it, I had to laugh. The little boy did not understand what was so funny and I couldn't explain to him because his family isn't into LotR and he's pretty much oblivious to the whole thing. But it was just too funny.
For those of you interested in doing a 24-hour hobbit Ficathon challenge this weekend, the challenge (to write a hobbity story using only dialogue) has been posted. I realize that with it being a Marigold Challenge weekend, there may not be as much interest in writing as there is in reading, but I'm hoping to see some stories by tomorrow evening. Anyone may post a story, you don't have to be a member of the community.
If you're not sure how to post to a community you don't belong to (I wasn't and had to search for instructions) you can go to the
hobbit_ficathon user info page and click on the blue pencil. That will open an update journal page.
