Happy Fourth of July, folks.

Once again, I've chosen the low key, holiday? What holiday? approach to the day. I practiced parallel parking (it's gonna be a *long* time before I get my license if that's on the test), worked on a fic I've been putting off for a really long time, and generally lounged around being a lazy bum. In lieu of a cookout, we went to the Dairy Bar for pie after supper. Mm, blueberry pie...so good. Now I'm listening to the random fireworks going on outside. Berlin isn't putting on a show, but plenty of people are setting things off in their backyards. There's lots of popping and occasionally some rockets that can be seen from my window. That's about all the show I need.

Luckily there doesn't seem to be a lot of need for it here, as there are parking lots scattered throughout town, but I need to be able to do it for the test, at least. Yuck.

It does come in handy if you ever want to park along the road for any reason, and for general control skills as well.

blueberry pie

Pie seems like a really good alternative to a cookout, if you ask me. I ended up doing not much of anything 4th-of-Julyish. By the time I got home from Molly's last evening, I could here the fireworks going off at the official city celebration, so it was clearly too late to try to go get a look at them. I turned on the TV for a bit and watched part of the Boston Pops + Fireworks display from Boston, but televised fireworks are a poor substitute for live and in person ones that put one at risk for being burnt by falling debris.
