Happy Birthday, danachan! I hope you're having a wonderful day, with lots of fic to read. I intended to write something but it's gonna be a bit late.

I've spent the whole day working on the seams on this shirt, because I have to do them all by hand. I've watched all of the Fellowship and two eps of Farscape, and I still have one seam to do. One more episode of Farscape should do it. Then I can start putting the damn thing together.

ETA: Well, I got the sleeves done. It took the rest of the evening just to put the cuffs on, but they are done. All that's left for tomorrow is attaching the sleeves, putting on the collar and the shirt-tail gussets. :D

ugh. Last night I did the main skirt seam for my Scarran skirt. 40 inches straight of upholstery thread through padded vinyl, by hand. My fingers are still sore today. :(

I'm hoping I'll be able to do the rest of it by hand. My goal is to stay up as late as is needed to get it done tonight, but it remains to be seen whether that is an achievable goal or not, lol. :)

huh, so is it scary that I spent a husge chunk of yesterday sewing patches on levis by hand ['cuz I, idiotboy, don't have a sewing machine] or that I watched almost all of the ring trilogy while doing so? Also? It would probably be a far better use of my time to just buy new jeans... but that'd be wasteful. and it's hard to find a thimble for a man's finger, and pliers are useful for pushing needles through 6layers of denim at back pocket corners... and the sewing ladies at wal-mart can't decide what to do with me looking for stuff in the sewing section... [heh, the look on their faces 'security? there's a man in the crafts section']

Lol! That's sort of how I feel when I go to home depot for vinyl floor remnants or grommets or some other such item to go along with my costuming.

Oddly enough, it's hard to find thimbles for my fingers as well. I have itty bitty hands, so I suppose I could look and see if they have any children's thimbles. That might work.

I'll have to keep the pliers trick in mind, as it would probably work pretty well for sewing through layers of vinyl as well. :D

As frustrating as the work on the shirt must have been, it sounds like you had a much more productive Sunday than I did. And working on the shirt while watching DVDs was probably more fun than experimenting with the various bodily contortions necessary to simultaneously work on the inside of the toilet tank and the underside of the toilet tank, AND hold a flashlight so that one could see what one was doing in at least one location. But, as I'm sure Mr. P would remind me, I did get to make TWO trips to Home Depot, and buy lots of what is no doubt REALLY COOL stuff. So, I guess I had a good day, too!

You may have to send my info on how to use the Dremmel tool to make costumes. I don't seem to be very good at using it for home repairs!
