I ran my paycheck through the laundry this morning. It is now in several pieces. Not good. I was planning to deposit it so that I would have money for my upcoming trip. I should be able to get another check from my boss, seeing as this one is recognizable and clearly not deposited, but I certainly won't be able to get it in one day, which is all I'll have. If I'm lucky, they'll be able to get it before the week is out and my sister can pick it up along with the paycheck for this week and deposit both of them. Then all will be well.

I went shopping this morning. When I moved from Pittsburgh, one of the families that I babysat for gave me a gift card for Banana Republic. So today my sister and I went to Banana Republic. Good grief! What I need is good, sturdy, basic clothing that I can wear to work, both daycare and coffee shop. Not frilly little 100% silk shirts and stuff like that. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find anything that was suitable and inexpensive enough to actually buy, but I found a few nice things. A long sleeve v-neck tee, a pair of pants that will have to be altered before they're wearable (I'm just put together all wrong for fashionable clothing) and a cute little handbag which is probably the first purse I've bought in about ten years.

Plus, we were shopping in Woolrich's for my sister and I found the greatest hat - an alpaca stocking cap style in beautiful autumn colors. I tried it on and my sister just laughed because it's the same shape as the Chiana hat I made, only warm and soft and perfect colors for me. All in all, pretty successful shopping for me, although poor [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl wasn't able to find what she was looking for.

Now I'm completely exhausted - I'm still adjusting to the two jobs and I just have no energy at all, sadly, so I think I'm going to vege out for the rest of the day. Work on the stripes and make some playdough at some point, but mainly watch DVDs. I'm almost done with the original Battlestar Galactica, but there's enough left to occupy me for a couple of hours, at least. :)

I have washed checks before. I have also mislaid them for weeks at a time. I am some sort of financial genius when it comes to keeping up with my money. If I don't spend too much of it, I lose it!
I have been meaning to get the original Battlestar Galactica. I have friends that are hooked on the new one but when they were telling me about the character changes I wasn't too sure I'd enjoy it. LOL

I've really enjoyed both the original and the new BSG. I had never seen the original, but based on the Sci Fi Channel's reputation, I was pretty dubious about what they'd do. I was wrong. It is a really *good* show. The original, while full of unavoidable 70's cheese, was also pretty good. It started out as just a lightweight weekly adventure with no character development and not much depth, but about half way through the season they really began develop the characters and sink their teeth into the overarching story. It's a shame it was cut short. I think the new one will do much better.

I remember the 70's cheese very well. LOL My problem with watching the new one is the fact that they have changed the sex of several of the characters. I don't mind new characters but I do have pre-concieved notions about the original ones. If they had included new female characters that would have been excellent as the original ones had limited range but I miss the idea of the characters that I knew in the original as male such as Boomer, being female now.

The things I have put through the wasning machine, lol. Never paycheks though but we get the money straight to an acoount so we don`t have checks any more.

Shopping is nice, isn`t it? Especially if you find something you like. :)

I'll have direct deposit at the daycare, once I turn in the proper form, but at the coffee shop it's too small a place and it would cost them a lot of money to do direct deposit. It's been a long time since I've had to remember to deposit my checks and I tend to forget about them for a week or two before running to the bank. It's terrible, lol.

Shopping *is* fun when you have a successful trip.

Well, it was just this once and I was hoping to not get caught.
