Today has been much better than yesterday. I didn't really start to struggle with exhaustion until at least noon, lol. It was getting a bit desperate here at work, until one of the customers asked if it would be possible to change the radio station away from the deadly awful jazz that was playing. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against jazz, but it just wasn't doing the job. Now I have an 80's station on. Much better. It's far easier to stay awake to Madonna and Crowded House than it was to Herbie Hancock.

I wanted to continue my con report today, but I think I need to wait until I'm fresher, or at least had some coffee.

So here I am at the coffee shop and it's a good thing it's very quiet. I started off the afternoon by making two frozen drinks for a couple of kids. They ordered two different drinks and I promptly put the mixes for both drinks in the same blender. Okay, not a good start to the day. Started over and managed to make their drinks. Then someone else comes in and asks for two other frozen drinks and again, it's two different drinks. This time I make a really big effort to get it right and manage to get the drinks blended before screwing up. I put the Mocha madness in the plain cup and the plain mocha in the mocha madness cup (laced with chocolate syrup for extra mocha goodness). D'oh! Then I ran out of whipped cream half way through finishing the drinks off. I should have stayed home.

Randomness -- I saw that both Adam 12 and Emergency are now out on DVD. Dude, I so want both of them! Kent McCord, Randolph Mantooth, emergency vehicles, uniforms, bad sixties acting, what could be better? Yes, it's true, I may be the lamest person on Earth.

One of these days I'm also going to have to buy season one of Lost. That came out yesterday and I totally meant to pre-order it, but I ran out of money for fun stuff. :(

I remember "Emergency"! We used to watch it when I was little and I absolutely loved it. Have no idea if I would love it today though. :)

I don't think I ever saw it when I was a kid, but about five or six years ago it was on TV and I watched it all the time. It was my show of choice for a while, until I glutted myself on it and had to stop, lol. It might be time to revisit it, though.

I remember "Emergency, " too! The thing I remember the most is some episode where a woman had to be rescued because she had stuck her big toe up into the faucet during her bubble bath -- just because -- and then it got stuck.

Apparently, this made a big impression on me as a kid, because to this day I *always* think about it whenever I take a bath, and avoid getting my toes anywhere near the faucet.

And I am sure that you just had an off day on the drink making. Things will look better tomorrow.

I remember that episode and I think about it too, when I'm in the tub, lol.

Except that I'm always tempted to put my toe in the faucet, just to see if it really would get stuck, lol.

I'm getting a kick out of your adventures in coffee-making. At least it's more entertaining than adventures in evidentiary-editing. And even the mistakes are potable.

And even the mistakes are potable.

That would have to depend on your definition of potable, I suppose. I'm glad my misadventures in coffee-making are entertaining to someone, lol. They certainly weren't to the customers whose drinks I kept messing up.

Am I the only one who doesn't also think of Ann Marie getting her own toe stuck in the faucet? That Girl was another 60s goodie (I wish somebody would put that show out onto DVD). She was the first independent modern young American woman (who didn't feel she HAD to get married) and enjoyed being herself. It had such an impression on me in my formative years. ES loves Emergency! and we have probably two dozen videos of it in somewhere in the Black Hole that is The Teenager's room. Back when he first discovered it the show was running on TV Land (I, of course, remember the original network runs). I wonder if I could talk him into hooking two VCRs together and making you a supertape of the best of them? Would you like that, Meeshie, dear? As a thank you for the wonderful coffee you gave me? :-) WWW can have one, too, if you want, as a thank you for the Attitude Kitty.

Didn't Ann Marie get her toe stuck in a bowling ball once on the show while trying to bowl with her foot and then they cut the ball in half for some reason and she was all dressed up with a half a bowling ball on her toe? Or did I dream that one? I remember Laura Petrie getting her toe stuck in a hotel faucet on The Dick Van Dyke Show once too. This must be a recurring theme in television. LOL

Yes, she did get it stuck in a bowling ball. I'm enjoying all these flashbacks! ;-)

Oh, so did I! She was just everything a girl of the 60s wanted to be when she grew up. Independent!

Ooh, I'd love that! I was looking at the DVDs on Amazon today. I have a $25 gift certificate there but between Lost and Emergency, it would still be about fifty dollars. Yikes, I really do need to exert a little self control for a while. :( (The downside of fantastically fun vacations is being fantastically poor for a while afterwards, lol.)

I think I shall propose that project to ES for the weekend. He'll probably love it, though will likely be duty bound as a 16-yr-old to at least put up the pretense of complaining about it. I'll secretly start rounding the tapes up and then ever so nonchalantly I'll suggest in passing that it might be a cool thing to do. It could be just the project he needs for the weekend. Save your money for Lost. I ordered mine but it won't be here until the 15th. *sigh* But next weekend the YS and I are going to have a Lost marathon in preparation for the Big Night on the 21st! It is returning on the 21st, isn't it?

Randolf Mantooth! Kent McCord! Just wait til you get home! I may not be your mom, but I'm old enough to remember the theme songs from both those shows. Are ChIPs DVDs available?

CHiPs is not currently available on DVD. What a shame - not. That's one trip down memory lane I can do without, thank you very much.

I am never going to be able to save a significant amount of money because there are just always going to be more old shows on DVD that I just *have* to have. Next it will be The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, or Please Don't Eat the Daisies or something else equally awful that I can't resist.

*locks wallet and credit card in a vault and tries to forget the combination*

Oh, did you ever see the original black and white movie The Ghost and Mrs. Muir? *heartflutters* It's one of my favorite old movies EVER! Just dripping with atmosphere and the most romantic movie I've ever seen where the lovers cannot touch, only feel. *sigh* Damn. Now I'm going to have to do some searching and see if THAT is available. ;-) You've started something here, woman!

Oh, that was on FMC (or AMC or TMC - can't remember) last week! I loved that movie too! It was heartbreakingly romantic. If I see it on the schedule any time soon, I'll let you know so you can tape it.

I've only seen it once, quite a few years ago. Did Rex Harrison play the ghost? That's the name that's popping into my mind, anyway. I may have to rent it one of these days to refresh my memory. :)

Oh, yes, it was Rex Harrison before he was "Sexy Rexy" but *fans self* he is soooooo sexy in that movie! But it's the intellectual banter that really gets me going, I love the way he and Gene Tierny (it is Gene Tierny isn't it?) play off each other, knowing they can never be more than intellectual stimulation for each other, but such longing for what could never be. *sigh* And then the end! *clutches heart* I love that movie.

I've had days like that with coffee. When I worked a book store we had a cafe with coffee drinks and the manager of the cafe would randomly make up drinks for her regulars. Well, they would come in when she wasn't there and say something like, "Would you make me a mocha skyrocket?" And I would have no idea what they were talking about and neither would anyone else there. LOL So then the customer is trying to explain what goes in his/her special drink and you have to wing it. Lots of people got lots of free drinks that way. Finally the manager started writing down her invented drinks in a little book so that if she was gone we would know what was what. Coffee is an adventure!
If you are looking for true cheese, I hear that TJ Hooker is on DVD. Now that is some serious cheese! LOL

If only our customers would be so specific! We get people coming in and saying, "I'd like whatever it was that C made for me last time." Well, that isn't very much to go on unless you happen to actually *be* C, lol.

For some reason, TJ Hooker never caught my attention. Maybe that is one dvd set I'll be able to get by without buying. :D

Who wouldn't be? I was watching the old BSG dvds that I borrowed from my boss, before the con, and got all excited when I saw in the intro that he was one of the guest stars that week. There was also an episode of JAG, several years ago, that he starred on, and I was just one happy little puppy that week. :)
