Worlds collide

It's an interesting thing. I was watching an episode of Lost last night - Deus ex machina - and who should appear on my screen but Kevin Tighe. I hadn't recognized him when the episode aired originally, but now, having just bought the Emergency! dvds, I immediately recognized the guy as Fireman Roy DeSoto. how funny! Of course, his Lost character is a totally different kind of character, but he still has that same sideways smile.

Ohhhh, that guy! In almost anything I've ever seen him in, he always played a jerk-off character.

Oh, you didn't know he was in that ep? When it first aired I tried to use it as a tool to get ES to watch with me and YS. No such luck. Good old mom broke down Sunday and bought him the Emergency! DVDs, and an AC/DC CD for YS and they were just as happy as clams. (I am so easy and they play me like a fiddle). I don't really mind, tho, (apart from being broke now for the next - oh, eight days...) because ES has been enjoying the dvds so much and they really are a kick, especially when you're as old as I am and remember the original runs. ;-)

So that's who that was! I had a flash of recognition when I saw the ep the first time, but couldn't figure out who it was. No wonder - I have a hard enough time placing faces of actors from last week, let alone 30 years ago! Back then, I really didn't pay attention to who the actors were; the shows themselves engaged my imagination pretty fully. Now I will have to watch that ep again and look for echoes of DeSoto!
