A productive day
Dec. 3rd, 2005 02:58 pmI got up semi-early this morning in order to go with
lyda_pearl to a craft fair at the college. Unfortunately I didn't get up quite early enough. I just hate waking up in the morning, and right around the time I was rolling into the shower, my sister was rolling down the driveway.
That was alright, as I needed to call the vet's office and get an appointment for Tookie. The vets that we go to are awesome. They were booked full this morning but said to come in and they'd find time for us, cuz Tooks should really be looked at. So I bummed a ride up to the college, told Lyda Pearl and off we went. It's a good forty minute drive, but it's a nice drive with beautiful vistas and farms with cows to look at (as long as you're able to tune out the piteous yawls coming from the back seat). At the vet we only had to wait about ten minutes before we were seen. Tooks was subjected to a variety of indignities before the vet announced that she had a bladder infection. Because she's still eating well and hasn't lost any weight, he's not too worried about her and just gave her antibiotics.
After my worries for her were eased, we did some important shopping. We continued a little further down the road to Littleton to see if the bookstore there had any rubber stamps. No such luck, but what they did have was envelopes. They had a variety of envelopes that had been left over from various cards that they sold, so they allowed me to pick out whichever ones I wanted, and they charged me just over two cents an envelope, which is a very good deal. So now my cards have envelopes. Yay!
The very nice woman at the bookstore also told us about a scrapbooking place just down the road, where we were able to find stamps, ink and anything/everything we could possibly want. I could have spent the rest of the day there, but Tooks was still waiting in the car and wasn't at all happy.
She had to have a little bath when we got home because one of the side effects of a bladder infection is frequent peeing and we were gone for a long time. So she was pretty wet, and it was pretty bloody and gross, so she got popped straight into the sink. First bath for her and hoo boy did she not appreciate it. No one was maimed however, so it turned out alright in the end.

Date: 2005-12-03 03:31 pm (UTC)Once I got over the shock of Tookie peeing on my foot, I thought it was a pretty smart move on her part, lol. Otherwise, I might never have seen the blood and I wouldn't necessarily have realized she was sick until she was a lot sicker. Who says animals can't communicate when they want to?

Date: 2005-12-04 01:34 pm (UTC)Congrats on finding the things you need for your cards! I hope that you enjoy making them, I certainly look forward to receiving one. I've considered making a special card for you, too - but fear that my creativity may be taxed to its limit what with coming up with a holiday poem or story of some sort for Psy P, and perhaps some dylanesque lyrics for Andy. Drained like a bottle of gatoraid at the end of a marathon is how I expec to feel when those tasks are accomplished.
