I came home from work early today. Apparently my supervisor wasn't comfortable with my look of silent torment. Yes, I was in pain. No, I wasn't incapacitated and I didn't intend to come home early. I was being cheerful and pleasant with the kids, but I was also fairly writhing. Damn advil! 800mg at 8:30 and another 8oo mg at 11 and I was still in excruciating pain. Damn cramps! You know, I used to be much more irregular, and I hated it, but for the past several months I've been nearly clockwork and that's just worse.

Now that I'm home, the advil has kicked in and the pain is nearly gone. Go figure! It will, sadly, be back, though, so I'm not going to feel guilty. I'm just going to put on my pjs, snuggle up in bed with the telly, and work on my holiday cards. Maybe later I'll write something; stranger things have happened.

:( :( :(

Is it something that needs to be checked by a doctor?

Ah, I can certainly relate. I've got a whopper of a migraine from the same cause.

Hope we both feel better soon!

((((((((((((hugs))))))))))

You snuggle up and take care of that pain. What is causing it btw? I suppose I missed a post or something if you have told about it earlier.

Sorry, I was trying to be discreet because of the guys that read my lj, but it's just nasty, rotten cramps.

Hey I'm married remember? That stuff doesn't even faze me anymore. I've been on many tampon purchasing missions in the past four years.

Don't want to be scary--but maybe you *should* see a GYN. When I was a teenager and early twenties, I always had excruciating cramps. I thought that everybody did. When I was twenty-four, they were so bad one day I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. They discovered a huge ovarian cyst on the verge of rupture. The cyst was removed, and so was one ovary.

So, no, bad cramps aren't always normal. Better safe than sorry.

I have actually spoken with my GYN a couple of times about the cramps. She looked at my menstrual history and wasn't overly concerned. She thinks I don't ovulate (or not often) and that means my body has to work harder to get a monthly thing going.

I *am* behind on my yearly exams, but that's going to have to wait a little while because I don't have any insurance at the moment and when I went in the last time, for a routine work physical, it ended up costing me $1000 due to an overzealous doctor who had me get all sorts of lab work done to check on a few things that came to nothing. That doctor did mention the possibility of a cyst, but didn't seem too worried about following up on it immediately. I hope to get some insurance soon, though, and that will be at the top of the list once I can pay for things again.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I somehow missed about half of my flist today without ever realizing it. And it's a great double drabble. You did just fine with Sam and Rosie!
