I saw Narnia yesterday. It was entertaining, although not too surprisingly it left me cold in the same places the book does. The movie did a good job of adding some emotional depth to the situation in which the children found themselves, sent away from home, not knowing if they'll ever see either of their parents again. I was quite surprised by my reaction to the scene where the children board the train and it pulls away from the station. Possibly I was just in a fragile state to begin with, but I couldn't breathe for a moment. I felt quite overwhelmed by how awful and frightening that evacuation must have been for all those children and their parents. Kind of bizarre, really, but there you go. All in all, I liked it, but it won't go on my list of 'must own' movies.

I've watched a lot of movies over the last week or so. On Wednesday, while curled up in bed, I saw About a Boy for the first time and loved it. I also saw something else. Don't remember what at the moment, but it was a movie I hadn't seen before and I liked it. So I'm a bit surprised that I can't remember what it was. Grr, now I'm frustrated and I'll be obsessed all night with trying to remember what movie it was, lol. The Matrix was on TNT today. I spent a lot of time laughing at the fillers they put in to cover up all the swearing. Neo and Trinity both said 'shucks' at least once, and someone, I think Mouse, said Jeepers Creepers at one point. That one really pulled me out of the movie; it's just such an old-fashioned and ridiculous thing to dub in. And yet, the 'damns' were flying fast and thick. Go figure.

TNT also showed Fellowship of the Ring today, and now they're playing Two Towers, so I've been getting my hobbit fix. :D

I'm watching Two Towers too, and thinking of you too. Actually, a few times I've just come out with, "OMG they are so gay for each other!" to various pairings. Oh Mr. Tolkien, het is so not your thing... ;)

I love !About a boy"! It is such a cute movie. :D They never dub swearing on TV here, unless it is an American program directly transmitted though, then we get the beeeps, lol. It is really ridiculous.

I haven¨t had my hobbit fix in ages so I need to do something about that soon. Days are just going too fast and are too busy. *sigh*

The dubbing in of more innocent words really can be taken way too far, sometimes. If the language in a movie is too much for a younger audience, they should just show the movie later. I mean, there is so much violence in The Matrix that young kids shouldn't be watching it anyway.

I think it's annoying if they dub or *beep* things. Luckily the Dutch don't believe in cencorship :-P

Ya gotta love the censorship, though. It adds great entertainment value to even crappy movies, by counting the times they use ridiculous terms like 'shucks', lol.

Oh, I can so relate! The lads were watching Die Hard 3 last night and it was just hysterical the way they were dubbing out the lines! I got quite a kick out of it.
