My life in dreams
Sep. 6th, 2004 08:49 amI had the weirdest dream last night, and I thought I'd share with you all. Maybe it will entertain you as much as it entertained me. Or not, sometimes dreams don't translate very well.
I was on a lengthy trip, voyage, mission type thing with a group of people and I got sick or injured (the details are a little fuzzy on what was actually wrong with me). So of course, Aragorn was there to take care of me. He did whatever healery things he needed to do and then put me to bed. It was midafternoon and I slept all evening, waking up around midnight, feeling much better.
That's when I noticed two little kids playing outside in the rain (very little kids, from my toddler room). Now, I thought to myself that it's a little odd for such very young children to be out, in the rain, at midnight, so I looked through the window to the house next door and saw that there was just a young girl, probably pre-teen in age, trying to take care of these kids. Through the open window she informed me that her grandmother was not home and she was trying to give the little ones a bath.
I realized that this child desperately needed help (re: the babies playing in the rain at midnight). So I got up, told my mom that I was going out for a little while, ignored Aragorn when he scowled at me for being out of bed, and went next door.
Just as I was helping this girl take the children up to bed, she shouted to me that her grandmother was coming and I needed to hurry so that the grandmother wouldn't realize the kids were still up. Well, I moved as fast as I could, but I was still a bit weak from the illness I'd had and wasn't fast enough. I was caught by the grandmother, but also by my mom and Aragorn (which makes little sense as I'd already told them where I was going). Aragorn sternly sent me back to bed. By this time I was pretty tired anyway so I meekly went along and went back to bed.
The next day we were in Chicago or somewhere. We were looking at the very first Yellow Cab, which was a horse-drawn affair. Inside, it was huge, like a hotel, complete with bedrooms and a bathing room / study (an odd combination, I know, but the excuse was that not many people would be using the bathing facilities so they doubled up the room). I was moving a little slowly and was the last one to enter the first bedroom. It was very small, but complete and well-fitted, with a very narrow but comfortable looking bed that Aragorn was lying in with Hetty Wainthrop (both fully clothed, thank goodness). For some reason that didn't surprise me.
"Hm, the bed looks small but cozy, if you're willing to cuddle up," I said. Hetty agreed with me, before moving slightly and falling out of the bed.
After that the dream pretty much petered out.
Now, I almost never dream about actors. And only rarely about characters from books, TV or movies. (At one point, when I was reading Robert Jordan's novels - probably at about book five, I started to dream about those characters, Mat specifically, for some reason).
You can probably tell from that dream (at least bits of it) that I view the world from a rather hobbity perspective. Here I have Aragorn in my dreams and all I see him as is a tour guide and a healer.
