Yes! Go Steelers! What a nerve-wracking game. I had no intention of actually watching it, but I'm glad I did. I get way too caught up in these things and I'm sure Mr. P (not a sports person) probably didn't really appreciate all my howls of anguish and shouts of glee, but oh well.

The Steelers won the Superbowl!

I had heard there was going to be a RDA MacGyverish commercial so I had my eyes out for it. I've gotten so used to his grey hair that the brown really took me aback, but my sister said even with that she barely recognized him and was disappointed he didn't have his old mullet, lol.

WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! WOOT!

Good for you (that you actually watched the game)! I had tentative plans to attend a super bowl party, but as the day progressed my enthusiasm for actually going out and spending the whole evening watching football dissipated rapidly. Despite my flagging interest I did make inadvertently black and gold (i.e., just a tad burnt on the bottom) Brazilian cheese breads, hop in the car and head in the vicinity of my hosts. One half hour and several wrong turns later, I decided I just really didn't want to watch the game and went home instead. However, I find that teams that I want to win tend to do better when I pay no attention to the actual game (as evidence, the Longhorns won the Rose Bowl and now the Steelers have won the Super Bowl, in contrast to how they performed 11 years ago, when I watched the game). So, it all turned out for the good.

I wasn't planning to watch the game either, but I knew Lyda Pearl wanted to, so I told her she could watch it (even though I prefer to maintain the illusion that my tv doesn't get sports). Even after the game started I managed to hold out for a little while, playing on the computer, but I got totally sucked in by half time and couldn't pull myself away. And I'm happy I watched, because it would have really sucked to miss seeing the Steelers actually win the Super Bowl!
