So terribly unoriginal, but boy did I not see that coming! You would think Charlie would be the last one on earth to want to afflict that kind of terror on anyone, and you can tell he doesn't feel very good about it, but he really has gone over to the dark side.

I kinda love that he and Sawyer have teamed up. It's not a combo I would ever have expected or predicted, but I like it. A lot. I was all prepared for Charlie to either not be in the ep at all, or else just have a 'sitting around moping' scene, so I was thoroughly pleased with this development.

The Kate - Ana Lucia hate is ratcheting up. That was fun to see also. Poor Kate is so easily manipulated. All Sawyer had to do was drop one or two little hints and Kate was right there, playing into his hands (of course, I was too - didn't have a clue).

How cute was Hurley, trying to help Sayid, who has to be the manly man and refuse to admit that he needs help? But then of course, Sayid really did need help, and Hurley's project was just what he needed to give himself something to do. And their conversation after finding the radio station, about the way radio waves bounce around and could be coming from a long distance away, and Hurley made that crack about them maybe coming from far away in time, too. I think that was a nice little nod on the writers' part to all the theories floating around out there.

And how much did I love the looks on Jack's and Locke's faces when Sawyer strode up with the guns and took their power away from them with a slouch and a sneer? Oh, so much!

I was beginning to feel a little less interested in the show after the last few episodes and the long hiatus, but this one ramped things up nicely again.

Ever have one of those mornings where you wake up groggy and shaky and feeling like someone had just pulled you out of a nap that needed another hour or three to be useful? The shakiness seems to have worn off for the most part, but the grogginess is still fully intact, five hours later. Gah! And the frustrating part is, I went to bed pretty early last night, and still didn't get good sleep. *pouts*

What you have just described is the normal state of a student I think.

Oh, I hope not. I certainly don't remember that feeling from my previous college experiences (but then, I never was a late-night cram session or late night party going kind of college student). If this is the feeling that's going to accompany me every morning once I start back to school, I don't see myself getting very far. :(

I don't think it was my normal state as a student. I think we "mature" returning students just learn how to get our work done during the day so that we don't have to stay up all night on a regular basis - mostly because it becomes impossible to do so!

Seems like last night took us all by surprise, eh?

Hope you get over the grogginess. I was shaky last for half a day on Saturday, but I put it down to a bug. Do you have a sinus or ear infection?

I didn't have any symptoms other than tiredness yesterday, but I'm thinking it might have been some sort of weird bug anyway. Lyda Pearl had the same thing a few days ago; she came home from work one day, went straight to bed feeling groggy and tired, and by the next day she was fine, which I am today as well.

That's about how I was, except I was at DB's so didn't have the luxury of going to bed. But I felt better the next day, except for the stupid sinus infection that I can't seem to chase off.

Hope by now you're back to normal and enjoying all the joys of a New England winter.

I hope you're feeling better now. I hate that groggy feeling. It sounds to me like maybe you woke up in the wrong part of a sleep cycle, so you still had all the paralyzing chemicals circulating in the bloodstream. Yuck. But I don't think this means that you will feel groggy every morning as a student! No, you'll wake up feeling energized and excited by the fact that you are NOT GOING TO A CHILD CARE JOB. Hold that thought.

I am feeling fairly normal today, so that's good. That shaky crappy feeling was with me all day yesterday and I didn't even play on the computer last night (a major concession for me) but today everything is back to normal. Lyda Pearl had the same thing a few days ago, so I'm wondering if it's a weird bug or something.

I'm sorry to hear about your shaky/groggy day. Hope last night you got better sleep!

(I'd like to add some comments about how perceptive and thought-provoking your Lost thoughts are - but you know, they are totally lost on me! Still, because they come from you, I am certain that they are perceptive and thought-provoking. :) )

Sadly, my Lost thoughts are never very thought provoking. They're more my reaction to the episode than any indepth analysis. So you're not missing anything. :)

Well, since they (your thoughts) were practically a mirror image of mine and Pipspebble's, I guess none of us can claim originality, but clearly the writers struck a very similar chord with all of us. It was, I thought, a compelling and disturbing episode, with much food for thought, a good bit of implied social commentary that I am not politically or psychologically sophisticated enough to comment on but did catch, and a lot of foreshadowing for future episodes. Possibly the best episode so far this season. But what I want to know is - was it Kate's mom that was the waitress in the diner when Sawyer and Gordie were having beers and veiled threats between them? One of these days I will get a DVD and I'll be able to answer these nagging questions for myself!

Yes, that was Kate's mom at the restaurant. That actress played one of the witchy aunts on Sabrina the teenage witch (which I must shamefully admit I used to watch, a number of years ago), so I recognized her immediately when I saw her.

I thought it looked like Beth Broderick, but it was too fast for my eyes to be sure. I'm not at all ashamed that I used to watch Sabrina. After a grueling week at work, it was just the light refreshment I needed to unwind!
