Makita safari package
May. 12th, 2006 10:53 pmTonight was girls' night out, and let me tell you, it was a raucous and wild evening. The FCG ain't got nothing on these ladies. We were the entertainment for the entire bar. There was much discussion of battery operated 'tools' that might reside in the bedroom, and the proper uses of said tools.
lyda_pearl came up with a whole new application for Makita power drills. It was impressive.
S made a fruit tray with chocolate covered strawberries, sugar-dipped grapes, orange slices and garlic pistachios. Mmm, yummy. I was given many fond farewells throughout the course of the evening but the weirdest by far was from a friend of S's. This was an older gentleman (probably in his late fifties) who bought me a drink to 'honor' me. Unfortunately, he brought it over just as we were getting ready to leave, so I couldn't drink it (one of the down sides of being able to drive is having to take a turn at designated driver), but it was sweet of him. He then proceeded to feel our hands and offer various blessings and honors to everyone at the table, while warning me that I really shouldn't go back to Pittsburgh because it's going to fall into a big hole any day now. I'm told he's really a very nice guy, who doesn't mean anything by it, but it was still a little strange.
I kicked ass at pool tonight. Not sure how that happened, but it was fun. (Now, when I say I kicked ass, I mean that I sucked slightly less than the other women playing, but still, I won.)
whtmtnwmn gave me a new address book with everyone's addresses already filled in, and I've promised to write to everyone. I'm feeling a little sad, because I really do like the people I've met up here and I hate leaving friends. But I'm heading back to friends as well. If I ever get finished packing. Which I should go do now.

Date: 2006-05-13 06:55 am (UTC)I'm going to the University of Pittsburgh, which is in Oakland. If you've been to Pgh, you've probably seen at least the Cathedral of Learning (http://www.umc.pitt.edu/tour/tour-080.html), which is visible from a large part of the city.
