The one about Friday night

So I suck at Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture edition. We played teams, eve11 and I against her boyfriend D and his friend J. Luckily, eve11 is a repository of all things pop culture and so we kicked some serious ass right up until the end. But then we just sort of hovered around the hub getting questions that were absurdly difficult. I think we made it into the hub maybe seven or eight times (answering wrong) before the guys finally caught up. And of course their very first time into the hub they got a question that was right up their alley. *sigh*

I was in a bar last night for the first time in a good year. They don't have bars in New Hampshire. They have restaurants with a bar attached. And they don't allow smoking in the one restaurant/bar that I went to. So the smoke in the bar last night was an unpleasant surprise. I forgot how insidiously it clings to everything. I think I may have to do laundry today. I had fun though, hanging out with friends.

Sounds like you had a great night. I could so see you two kickin' ass and takin' names. Glad you showed 'em up. I can identify with your smoking experience. I have a really hard time sitting anywhere near smoke and it's such a shock - at least for me = to go to a place that allows it. The one place I'd been recently has a deck and some friends of mine and I ate there one afternoon and the smoking just really bothered me, even though it was all outside. There was never any question of sitting inside! And I have the most sensitive nose on the planet, I grant you, but once I get a whiff of nicotine up my nostrils it is HARD to get the smell out. I'll smell it on everything until I get out of those clothes, shower and wash my hair.

But my two best hang out buddies are smokers, one male, one female, and they are sensitive and at least don't smoke around me if they can help it. I guess I can't expect the restaurant to accommodate me, can I? ;-)

I'm lucky enough that none of my friends are smokers and usually when we go out, wherever we end up has a no smoking section, but as long as there are smokers in the world, there will be bars that are full of smoke. Blech! At least your friends are considerate enough to not smoke around you. That's pretty decent of them. :)
