One task done!
May. 31st, 2006 12:26 pmWell, I've signed the lease on my new apartment. And no, I wasn't imagining how small it is. It is really, really small. The bedroom is 6'2" by 11'3" and the living room is 9'7" by 13'1". There is a very small (no counters) kitchen and a decent bath, but it feels a little like a walk-in closet.
There are lots of large windows, though, so it's nice and bright (no blinds on the windows so I'm going to have to fix that as soon as possible). And the two windows on the front (which look out over a sweet though untended park) even have screens in them already. I'll have to buy a screen for at least one of the bedroom windows, and get a good fan, but I think it will work out pretty well.
The loft bed that I'm getting will fit into the bedroom although it will take up pretty much the entire room. I checked though, and the bathroom and closet doors will still open, and there will be enough room to walk around the bed, so it's all good, plus it will give me a ton of storage space. I've realized that it will be impossible to use that space for a desk because the room is so small it would be impossibly stifling and claustrophobic under the loft, so walk-in closet, here I come. *g*
Still on the to-do list for today:
* Go to County Health and get a TB shot (pre-rec for any job in child care).
*call phone, cable and internet companies and arrange for services
* job interview
* try not to pass out from heat stroke/dehydration between now and the end of the day.
Seriously - I had a longish wait for the bus earlier and by the time the bus came it looked as though I'd spiled a bottle of water all over myself (this just from standing still at a sunny bus stop). It's not that it's so terribly hot, it's just that it's terribly humid. I stopped at a Starbucks as soon as I got off the bus and bought an iced coffee. I think I drank half of it before the ice even cooled it off.
