Job interview

The job interview is done. I think it went well, but it's impossible to say for sure. I was able to come up with coherent and reasonable (I think) answers to all of their questions. I was afraid they'd ask me something that I'd never come across before but luckily I've had experience with pretty much everything they wanted to know. They seemed to like my answers, and my philosophy, expressed through those answers, seemed to match up with theirs pretty well, but I don't know what sort of competition I'm facing. Grrr!
Plus, I was all sweaty and disheveled when I got there because it's freakin' hot out and I spent the day trekking around town doing other important things. I just hope I wasn't smelly. :(

On the bright side, I have phone service lined up to get turned on Friday afternoon and DSL to get hooked up within the next week or two. I've pretty much decided to by-pass cable, since the only shows I really watch any more are SciFi Friday, which is on a digital channel here. It costs something like 60 bucks a month for digital cable. I'm not paying that for two-three hours of tv a week. So, I'll get Netflix instead.

Ooo...I hope you did better than you think! I'm sure they loved you. When will you find out that you got it? ;)

Ya, cable is way too expensive. How can they possibly justify those charges?

Unfortunately, I have no idea when I'll hear from them. Which reminds me that I need to figure out who to call to update my phone number (LP is taking the cell phone back home with her).

I'm kinda bummed about the cable because occasionally I just want to put the tv on and watch something mindless without having to pick out a dvd that I've already seen a thousand times, but I only regularly watch the Friday night shows and it's just ridiculous to pay that much money for a few hours a week. I'm going to be busy with school in a few months anyway and the tv is a distraction. *repeats that over and over*

Yay! for phone service and DSL! When Mom moved her phone service to J's, they said DSL isn't available - it's too close to Kings and Wilkes and all the DSL slots are taken. I think it's still being billed though, as it was taken under a one-year contract. Doesn't that bite?

I hope Netflix will work out for you, and maybe eve11 or someone can tape important shows for you.

I know eve11 will tape things for me if I ask her, but that's a pain. I'm going to see about downloading the tv shows that I want - most of them are available from one source or another if you look hard enough.

I'm glad the interview is over - it sounds like you handled it like a champ (despite the wilting weather!) Good idea to forgo cable - I've always refused to spend money to watch TV, and when I get the chance to see cable TV in other people's homes I really don't feel like I'm missing much.

Well, the sad thing is, I love cable and I love the freedom of having a lazy Saturday when all I do is flip through the channels looking for old movies or cool cooking shows but I don't do that regularly enough to justify the expense. Netflix, on the other hand, will provide me with only exactly what I want to see. *bg*
