It ain't pretty...
Jun. 14th, 2006 01:34 pm...but it works.
A loft bed, while providing tons of extra space in a bedroom, isn't entirely a comfortable or convenient thing for someone as restless at night as I am. I'm always getting up to get a drink of water or a tissue, or reading in bed, or wanting to change the setting on the fan or something.
So I rigged up a basket (made out of an empty plastic Tidy Cat litter box) that's tied to the metal frame of the bed. In it I can keep a bottle of water, a book, my headlamp (I don't have a flashlight or booklight, but it works just as well), the remote for my fan and a box of tissues. Up until now, all of these things were in the bed with me - cramping an already tiny space. Now I just need to convince Thor that he doesn't have bed privileges and I'll actually have enough room in the bed for me. *grins*

Date: 2006-06-14 05:58 pm (UTC)I was thinking about covering the box with some of my left-over fabric, but was feeling too lazy (plus I don't have any way to fasten the fabric to the box) so for the moment it's just a plain white boring box (at least I was able to remove the Tidy Cat picture and words).

Date: 2006-06-14 09:25 pm (UTC)Here I was thinking that you were going to say that you were getting lots of extra exercise going up and down the ladder to the bed, and I was going to say that you could cross-post this message to Fit_for_Life! But the bed basket is a worthy innovation. Sounds like you've got a bit of Dad's creativity and handiness in you - although in that case you would perhaps have had to make the basket out of plywood and paint it a cheery tomato - no 84 Lumber - red! (P.S., if all this is making you scratch your head - go to WDTM and read #7's memories in Dad's Party Volume 2.)
