Well, I managed to get a challenge story written and turned in this month. I've left Merry and Pippin in the capable and talented hands of many other writers and returned to the story that first got me started writing LotR fanfiction. In This Windy Place is a continuation of Rosie's story, which I shamefully haven't worked on in probably a good year. This chapter takes place shortly after Frodo and the others have left the Shire and is about Rosie coming to terms with some important truths.

Went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with some friends tonight. I'd heard a number of good, bad and indifferent comments on it, so went into it with minimal expectations. It was just what I was hoping it would be, fun and entertaining, with lots of references that I remember from the books (read long ago) and some that remind me that it's time to read the books again. One friend who thought it was not that great complained that it was more a series of skits than a movie. I can see where he's coming from, but that's one of the things I liked about it.

Came home and started playing with my new iPod Shuffle. I installed the software tonight, but I'm waiting until tomorrow to pull the computer out of my desk in order to access the USB port in order to plug it in. The only disappointment was that the store was out of armbands for it. It comes with a lanyard, but I don't know how well that will work when I'm jogging. It's a simple matter to order an armband online, but it was annoying that I went to two stores and neither of them hand any armbands. But, eeee! it is so cute and tiny. I'll have to be careful to not lose it.
