The ups and downs of a Saturday afternoon

I've had a moderately productive day so far, which is not exactly the norm for a Saturday, for me. I tidied up the living room (the apartment needs considerably more than 'tidying up' but every little step helps), sent that package off to dreamflower02 that I meant to get in the mail over a week ago, saw a movie (Get Smart, more on that later, if I feel chatty), got my hair cut (and yes, my previous haircut was every bit as bad as I thought it was - the woman today remarked on it several times and indeed, was unable to really fix it all the way, I'm going to have to let it grow for another two months or so before the very ugly ledge along the side of the bangs grows out enough to be fixed), and bought a few groceries. Now I'm relaxing and waiting on Doctor Who.

I'm trying really hard to stay away from that leaked SGA episode. It's killing me, though, because people keep posting about it, and writing tags for it, and creating icons from it. I'm sure I've seen at least one person using a Search and Rescue icon, which really pissed me off. If you're going to view the episode a full month before it airs, at least have the courtesy to not use the icons you make until after the episode airs. It's only common decency. And it makes me want to watch the damn episode already. But I'm really determined to hold out.

Storm's a'coming

The weather called for scattered thunderstorms all day. Luckily, they held off while I was out and about. It got a bit dicey for a while as I was waiting for my haircut - I was outside a Starbucks and it was so windy I was afraid it was going to blow my full coffee cup away. It didn't and by the time I was done with the hair, the wind was done, too. For awhile.

Around 6:45, it started getting really dark, so I grabbed my camera and went out to get some pics. Let me show you them.

I love watching clouds. I don't usually see shapes and pictures; I'm too busy watching the clouds grow and change and flow with the air. And storm clouds are always fascinating to watch. Until the lightning and the thunder start coming a little too close together and the wind starts threatening to hurl things at me. Then it's time to retreat to the inside, where I can watch the storm in perfect safety. I did, actually, go back out once it started raining. I wanted to play with the movie setting on my camera so I got 30 seconds of strong wind blowing the trees around, and another 30 seconds of rain hurling itself at the ground with serious intent. Unfortunately, I don't really know what to do with them. Youtube, I suppose. I wanted to put them on my website, but I can't upload anything that big. I've never uploaded anything to Youtube, but it can't be that hard, right?

Puddlejumpers and TARDISes, oh my!

Hm, Puddlejumper, my laptop, is behaving suspiciously. It shut itself off twice while I was watching Doctor Who. Either it didn't like the plotline, or there's a problem. I'm going to let it rest tonight and see how it behaves tomorrow, but I'm worried that it might be a problem with the cooling fan.
