Things not going to plan

No word yet from Dell about my new hard drive, so I can only assume it hasn't shipped yet, which means I won't get it until next week. I'm a little worried, because I usually receive an email from Dell after any conversation with them, especially when I placed an order, but I haven't received anything from them this time. Did my order even get placed? I tried calling them, but got disconnected, possibly because the work phone system is set up to discourage people from spending long amounts of time on hold, and I won't get home until late tonight, so won't be able to call again anytime soon. Grr!

To top things off, my brother who was coming out this weekend to visit and bring me a new cat, may have the flu. He's checking with his doctor to make sure it isn't just a sinus infection, but if he's got the flu, he rightfully won't be traveling. Which sucks for him, and also for me, since then I won't have a computer or visitors or a new cat. Hopefully I can come up with a new plan for the weekend that doesn't involve me sitting in front of my tv for 48 hrs.

Puddlejumper the laptop has a new brain! Despite my concerns about not having received any emails from Dell, they did indeed send out the hard drive and it arrived today. An hour and a half later, all the basic stuff is reinstalled/reinitialized. I still need to do a lot of work to get things back up to speed, but I have a functional computer again. The only thing that is making me frown is my wireless system. I'm going to have to try to figure out how to re-establish that and I don't really remember what D did to set it up the first time. I'll figure it out eventually, but it might be a while. But yay for a new hard drive!
