Nov. 30th, 2010 06:07 pmThe plumbers are still here, banging around down in the basement. I'd really hoped they would be done by now, and I'm afraid to ask how much more they have to do, because I don't want to find out that they won't get it done today. That would be too cruel.
Meanwhile, I'm spending my entire month's budget on take out because while I have plenty of leftovers, etc. in the fridge, I have no way to heat any of it up, and it's too cold to eat refrigerator-cold food. I need hot food.
And Mal is in deep retreat. I had a moment of panic when I put the food in the bowls and Maggie was the only one to show up. Zoe finally poked her head out but Mal didn't appear at all. It was clear that the plumbers had been in the apartment at some point and I worried that maybe he'd gotten out. But I never let that worry get too out of hand until after I've looked under the sofa, and that's where he is. Probably where he'll stay for as long as there are strange noises coming from the basement.
