Feb. 10th, 2012 11:30 pmI got home from work around 6:30 pm and
lyda_pearl greeted me with the info that we were having salmon cakes for supper and that were going out this evening. I am still deep in winter hibernation mode, which encourages me to do spend all non-working hours curled up in a snug little nest on my bed, playing on the computer, so my initial response was less than enthusiastic. Poor LP has the most boring sister on the planet.
I did manage to get into the spirit of things, eventually. We went to see the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. They played pieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Respighi. I was unfamiliar with Respighi but I think I liked his pieces the best.
I had a new dress to wear, one that I bought over Christmas break but hadn't had occasion to wear yet, so it was fun to put that on, do up some make-up, and pretend to be at least a little bit civilized and cultured. Especially after spending all week up to my elbows in gook from making paper mache planets. I lamented my inability to do anything with my hair, since it is straggly and with hideous faded/grey roots. Oh well, I plan to fix that tomorrow. I also lamented my inability to do anything about my face. But I don't think there's much of a fix for that, so I'll just have to live with it.
