I got home from work around 6:30 pm and [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl greeted me with the info that we were having salmon cakes for supper and that were going out this evening. I am still deep in winter hibernation mode, which encourages me to do spend all non-working hours curled up in a snug little nest on my bed, playing on the computer, so my initial response was less than enthusiastic. Poor LP has the most boring sister on the planet.

I did manage to get into the spirit of things, eventually. We went to see the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. They played pieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Respighi. I was unfamiliar with Respighi but I think I liked his pieces the best.

I had a new dress to wear, one that I bought over Christmas break but hadn't had occasion to wear yet, so it was fun to put that on, do up some make-up, and pretend to be at least a little bit civilized and cultured. Especially after spending all week up to my elbows in gook from making paper mache planets. I lamented my inability to do anything with my hair, since it is straggly and with hideous faded/grey roots. Oh well, I plan to fix that tomorrow. I also lamented my inability to do anything about my face. But I don't think there's much of a fix for that, so I'll just have to live with it.

Yay for going out! Good thing you did so last night; I think the snow probably reinforces those hibernation feelings :) I am on quite a roll right now of not going anywhere except work.

I wouldn't be going anywhere but work if it weren't for LP making me leave the house occasionally, lol.

It's fun to do every once in a while, but I don't think I could ever carry it off full-time.

Hurray for having a sister who makes dinner and plans evening activities, and for having an opportunity to put on good clothes and make up and get out of the house in the evening! I hope you both had a great time and that it is the start of a great weekend for both of you!

I hope you are also having a great weekend, although it would be better if you had sisters close by to make you food and do fun things with you.

*hugs*

That's because people are generally kind-hearted enough not to say, 'wow your hair looks like crap in that photo.' :)

There is no doubt in my mind that you really were gorgeous. But I'm eager to see a photo of the new 'do as well!

Yes but they can just say nothing so remember if they are commenting it is most likely because it looks good.
Glad you enjoyed the outing.
I always knew it would be good to have a "wife"
