School Reunion
Jun. 24th, 2006 10:25 pmI'm experiencing the Doctor Who love all over again.
I wasn't at all happy when I learned that Christopher Eccleston wasn't coming back for the second season. I mean, I've been a Doctor Who fan my whole life so I understand about the whole regeneration bit, but I thought he might have stuck around for more than one season. Sadly, no such luck.
So I was prepared to not feel a very warm welcome for the new Doctor when he put in his appearance and there I was wrong. I actually really like David Tennant's Doctor quite a lot. The first few episodes of the season, on the other hand, are only so so.
Today I watched School Reunion, however, and loved it. His reaction to seeing Sarah Jane Smith again was perfect, as was Rose's realization that she was one of many, many companions the Doctor's had, and that when she was gone there would be many, many more, and that he had/did/would feel affection for all of them, but that she wasn't as special to him as she'd thought.
All this against the back drop of Anthony Stewart Head playing an alien impersonating a school Head Master for his own nefarious purposes. I loved that!
So, onward and upward. I'm off to find episode four, if I can.

And yeah, it was a really good episode. "We're not keeping the horse!", lol...
If you haven't been looking at them, you should see about downloading the Doctor Who Confidential episodes that go along with the series. Cool behind-the-scenes stuff. Stuff like, "We're never going to be able to have a horse jumping through a mirror."
